Ipswich go head-to-head against Everton on Saturday. Read our Predictions and Betting Tips with Match Preview, Head-to-head stats (h2h) and Team Form Analysis.
Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Expect an electrifying atmosphere at Portman Road when Ipswich Town and Everton lock horns on day 8 of the new Premier League campaign. The Tractor Boys are eyeing their first win of the season and we are positive that they will leave their hearts on the field. Jens Cajuste remains doubtful, but fellow midfielder Nathan Broadhead has overcome his injury.
The Toffees, on the other hand, were showing signs of improvement before the international break. Sean Dycheâs men are undefeated in the previous three league fixtures. But a home win should be considered this time out as Ipswich Town are desperate to register their first triumph of the process. Albania striker Armando Broja remains in the recovery room. While experienced right-back Seamus Coleman will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. In their last meeting at the venue, back in 2001, the two sides played out a goalless draw and yet another low-scoring affair is on the horizon.
How the bookies view it: Tractor Boys to triumph
Despite failing to win a Premier League game this season so far, Ipswich are 11/8 favourites on VPH777.
Everton are 9/5 outsiders on WK777 to claim what would be their first Premier League away win of the season. While a point apiece at Portman Road has been priced up at 12/5 with the same firm.
Ipswich vs Everton Match Preview
Ipswich ended a four-draw run with a demolishing 1-4 defeat away at West Ham in the previous round.
They are still one of four winless teams at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
The Tractor Boys will have a nice chance to get their maiden victory on the board this weekend, though.
They host fellow strugglers Everton in Matchday No 8 at Portman Road. Everton sit just one point above Ipswich in the bottom half of the standings.
They have managed four points from the previous two league affairs, though. The Toffees saw off Crystal Palace 2-1 at Goodison for their first win of the season before holding Newcastle to a goalless stalemate just before the international break.
It was the third subsequent game without a loss in the Premier League for Sean Dyche and his troops who seem to have found the right formula after a sloppy start.
Highlighted Player (Abdoulaye Doucouré):
French international midfielder Abdoulaye Doucour is a bundle of raw energy and a player who was voted Watfordâs Player of the Season during the 2017/18 campaign. A deep-lying midfielder who takes part in play build-up from behind is a defensive asset. Who took time to blossom and announce himself at the international stage. He first burst to prominence at Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2012 after a year with the clubâs B side and went on to play 75 league matches and score 12 goals.
Watford bought Doucoure in 2016 but sent him on loan to Granada, where he took part in 15 league matches. Determined to prove his worth in the Premier League, the Frenchman of Mali descent wasted no time in grabbing a starting spot under both Marco Silva and Javi Garcia, respectively, upon his return from Spain.
The total of 38 matches played along with 8 goals scored made Doucoure one of the most sought-after assets in the summer of 2018. But the player remained at Vicarage Road despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Head to head: History favours the hosts
While the two teams have not come up against each other for over 20 years. Ipswich could draw some hope from their record in this fixture. The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in each of their last four top-flight meetings with the Toffees. Claiming top honours from three of those tussles.
Highlighted Team (Ipswich):
Ipswich Town are an English football club that was formed in 1878. Portman Road has been the home ground of Ipswich Town since 1894 and the capacity of the venue, which was expanded in 2002, is 30,311. The Tractor Boys compete in the Championship. But they used to play in the English Premier League in the past as well. Ipswich Town last appeared in the elite division in the 2001/2002 season.
Ipswich won the FA Cup in 1978, with the team beating Arsenal (1-0) in the title game. However, the clubâs biggest success came in 1981 when they outplayed AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup final. It has to be noted that the Tractor Boys have yet to suffer a loss at home ground in the European competitions.
Norwich City are regarded as Ipswich Townâs bitterest rivals. And it is well known that the two sides take on each other in the East Anglian derby.
Players to watch: McNeil to make his mark?
Dwight McNeil has been one of Evertonâs standout performers this season so far, notching four times across his nine appearances to date. Thus, the even-money with 777PUB for the Everton ace to register one or more shots on target on Saturday holds plenty of appeal.Â
Liam Delap, who has scored three goals across his last two outings for Ipswich, is 2/1 (777PUB) to strike for the third game in succession.
Predicted line-ups
Kieran McKenna is expected to make some changes to his starting XI following the aforementioned 4-1 thumping at West Ham a fortnight ago.
Everton boss Dyche will be unable to call upon injured trio Armando Broja, Seamus Coleman and Youssef Chermiti.
Ipswich: Muric; Johnson, O’Shea, Geaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Burns, Hutchinson, Szmodics; Delap
Everton: Pickford; Garner, Tarkowski, Keane, Young; Doucouré, Mangala; Harrison, McNeil, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin
Ipswich vs Everton Prediction
We donât trust either of these two teams defensively. Theyâve conceded 29 goals combined in just 7 rounds.
Six of Ipswichâs last seven games in all competitions provided goals at both ends. The Tractor Boys allowed six goals in the last two Premier League outings.
On the other side, weâve seen goals at both ends in all but one of Evertonâs previous six fixtures across competitions.
The main bet is Both Teams To Score at the 1.61 odds. The value is also great with Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score anytime at the sky-high 3.20 odds.
Evertonâs main striker has two goals to his name this season. He also takes penalties for the team and he is now up against one of the weakest defensive sides in the division.
